IC engine crankshaft angular position signal generator - using magnetic field detectors and angle dependent pole and conductor geometry

An angular position transducer is used for rotating parts. It is partic. applicable to a conducting piece fitted to an i.c. engine crankshaft so as to periodically close a magnetic flux path. It is desiged to enable a simple geometric pole structure and thus economic production using a linear response of the angular position voltage and magnetic field detectors. At least one of the pole pieces is formed of two sections and the manetic flux in one section is measured by a magnetic field detector. The pole piece distance is constant over at least a limited angular range as a result of angle dependent pole and conductor geometry.
