There are two clamping rails, gripping the foil strips between them, held together by connector elements, at intervals along their length, which pass through holes in the strips. The lengths of foil (12) are previously perforated or slotted during manufacture, and one or both clamping rails (23, 24) are fitted with firmly attached connector elements (17) before the connection is assembled. The foil lengths may have elongated slits (20) at regular intervals from their edges. The connector elements can be flaps worked out from the rails and inserted through corresponding slits on the opposite rail. A durable connection can be effected quickly and easily on site, without involving skilled labour.
