Test specimens of non-castable bituminous materials (mixtures) are produced by consolidating a set quantity under the vertical impact of a falling weight by the Marsh-all method, part of the impact energy being converted, however, into "pugging" energy. Test specimens are made to DIN 1996 Page 4 but correspond to the stresses in actual service (e.g. in building industry or road surfacing).
