The root crop harvesting machine has an elevator belt which transports the crop into a bunker, and circulates about it. There are mechanisms to swivel the bunker to the machine frame for unloading the crop. The elevator belt (8) is connected with the bunker (12) when it is swivelled up. On the unloading side the bunker (12) has a wall (23) which can be swivelled in the unloading direction and has a roller bottom or scraper conveyor which continues on the bunker floor (24). In the unloading section, the bunker (12) has a square or rectangular shape with a horizontal floor (24).
