Wall facing contg. epoxy! resin vapour barrier - with fine aluminium particles to give improved vapour diffusion resistance

A coating material for walls, floors and ceilings is for application to a monolithic background surface. The coating comprises a vapour-retarding layer of epoxy resin, in which Al particles are embedded to improve the vapour barrier effect. The Al particles may be in the form of grains of size 0-2 (0-0.5) mm., or in the form of fine flat plates of size up to 10 x 10 (2 x 2) mm. These small plates may be produced by disintegrating Al sheet of 10 mu thickness. The Al particles along pref. have a bulk density of 1 g/cm3 and specific gravity of 2.5-2.8 g/cm3. The proportion of Al particles is pref. 5-50 (20) wt. %, w.r.t. particles and resin. The addition of small Al particles increases the effectiveness as a vapour barrier by a factor of up to 6.
