Heavy load crane protection system - has strain gauges on columns sensing crane strength for stopping

The crane for heavy loads has supports and trolley bridge. The crane load limiter prevents load movement which tend to exceed crane strength criteria. On the columns (2) are fitted strain gauges (5). These evaluate the given axial loading on each column. Arrangements are provided to prevent load movements which could lead to increase of the axial loading at the given column which would exceed the specified max. loading. The strain gauges are also fitted under the trolley bogie members (4). Strain gauges can be situated on several positions of a column. Average value of the actual loads is used for limiting the load movement.
