The fluid pulse cannon has a differential pressure piston movable axially within a cylinder bore between a combustion- and a fluid chamber. During the working stroke the piston is driven by the hot reaction gases from a proportioned amount of fuel injected in the combustion chamber. A fluid fed into the fluid chamber before ignition, is driven out by the piston, thereby producing a high pressure fluid jet. The piston(8) acts onto the combustion chamber contents(84, 86) with adiabatic compression, thermally triggering the ignition, after the feeding-in of the fuel. During the adiabatic ignition stroke, the piston charges pressure in the fluid chamber (10) via the limited piston surface(38).
