Polypropylene compsns. with improved cold resistance and stiffness - contain ethylene!-alkyl (meth)acrylate! copolymer and polyethylene

Ternary polypropylene compsns. consist of (1) 60-95wt.% polypropylene with intrinsic viscosity measured in decalin at 130 degrees C of 1-9 and density 0.80-0.92, (2) 3-30% copolymer with (melt flow index) MFI (190 degrees C, 2.16 kp) of 0.0-120, opt. crosslinked up to 100% gel content, from (2.1) 50-90wt.% of ethylene and (2.2)50-10% (meth)acrylate ester of a 1-8C alkanol, and (3) 2-30% polyethylene with MFI 0.01-20 and density 0.93-0.97. The compsns. are processed on usual machines into films, profiles, sheets, hollow articles, vehicle body parts, etc. Addn. of (3) to known mixts. of (1) and (2) gives materials with good toughness at low temps. and stiffness, together with excellent flow properties in processing.
