Heavy wash textile detergent - contains lower penta:sodium tri:phosphate with added alkali silicate to prevent fabric incrustation

Detergent compsn. for washing textiles contains (by wt.) 3-15% alkali silicate (I) having an M2O:SiO2 ratio =1:1. pref. 1.5-2:1 (where M is K or Na), and 10-30% Na5P3O10 (II). Addn. of (I) reduces (II)-proportion required in compsn. without causing fabric incrustation after repeated washing. The detergent compsns. can be prepd. by adding (I) to a detergent slurry before spray-drying, or by adding (I) to detergent powder. The detergent compsns. can also be produced by preparing (I) during the spray-drying of the detergent slurry, by adding water-glass having M2O:SiO2 ratio =2:1, together with the required alkali hydroxide.
