The cutting segment is for use with circular saws. It consists of an indexable, carbide tip which is held so that it can be readily replaced. The tip (4) is held in a V shaped seat between tooth gaps of saw blade segment (1) by wedging action. A clamping wedge (14) in the cutting plane is driven across the cutting direction by a fastener such as a screw. This wedge can be split and the screw is held by its base within saw segment bore.
