A damped spring comprises a ring (6') of axially tapered cross-section seated on another such ring (6") through the intermediary of an annular spring (4) at the inside taper of the rings. There is a similar such spring (5) at the outside taper of the rings. Axial compression of the rings causes radial contraction of the inner and radial expansion of the outer spring. The rings are provided with internal passages (17) for feeding lubricant to the interfaces between the rings and the springs. The passages lead to an end member (2) of the assembly where a lubricant (21) nipple is provided.
