The clamping closing element for small suitcases has a baseplate with pivots. This acts in conjunction with a grip plate with a spring. The spring arrangement consists of curved sinusoidal leaf spring (14). It is held by end on the baseplate (10) and by its other end on the buckle handle plate(12). The spring displacement is limited on both sides of by pivoted side members between the buckle and spring base plate.
