Cable or rope such as may be used to erect a temporary barrier, e.g. for road blocks or roping off sections of sports arenas, or also for sectioning off the swimmer section from the non-swimmer section of a swimming pool, is composed of a core which is spray-coated with a rubber foam or circular cross-section and sheathed in a tubular textile. The core is provided with spaced-apart anchoring knots. It is made of highly heat-resistant plastics filament or steel wire. The sheathing is synthetic or material fibre or a metal wire fabric. Alternatively, it may be solid plastics. It is further coated with rubber.
