A real time spectrum analysis process is used for non-destructive testing of machine components, as well as being suited to medical diagnostic uses. Multiple receivers are used to process the h.f. components reflected back from a component under test. The signals are amplified and are passed through band pass filters set to provide windows for different parts of the spectrum. The analyser time base unit controls the transmission of the signals to a divider stage and on impulse generator provides spectral data that is stored or printed.
