Rotary heat treatment furnace - with water spray curtains in chute to water quenching tank

A rotary furnace for the heat treatment of mass produced articles in a protective or reactive gas atmosphere discharges into a water-filled quenching tank. Several water spray curtains operated with chilled water, act as barriers for the rising water vapour and all walls of the chute are cooled to effect the condensation of the water vapour. This saves the oil lock in the chute and prevents contamination of the furnace atmosphere. Used for hardening, austenising, coking, carbonitriding, and nitriding processes.
