The switch on-off cycle of a record player is connected to that of an associated tape cassette recorder in such a way as to be the same or independent. The record player motor is switched on by push button actuation (4) and this also energised a relay (5) to close contacts (6). This action supplies power to a cassette unit drive (8). If a parallel switch (10) is open at the same time then the cassette and player operate as one. If the switch (10) is closed then the cassette continues when the player is switched off. A number of different ways of switching and indicating status are considered.
