The apparatus for cutting continuous tapes has cutters, control devices for operating the cutters and devices for advancing the tape toward the cutters at a determinable rate. First detecting devices are positioned to detect the passage of a location of the first type passed a first given position, second detecting devices are positioned to detect the passage of a location of the second type passed a second given position. First delay devices are responsive to detection of a location of the first type for enabling detection of a location of the second type for a second determined time period, and second delay device is responsive to the detection of a location of the second type.
