The microphone amplifier has a variable gain circuit with a setting component calibrated in terms of the microphone's sensitivity. The variable gain circuit is designed so that at a given volume picked up by the microphone the signal at the output of the variable gain circuit has a given level. The variable gain circuit is set according to the microphone's sensitivity and acts as an adaptor. A second setting component also controls the variable gain circuit or another variable gain circuit and sets the signal level or volume.
