The contact breaker closure angle tester is especially for use with four cylinder otto engines. An angle scale (4) is provided on a tubular housing (5) which with the distributor head removed is fixed on the distributor housing to cooperate with a pointer (1) fixed on the distributor shaft in place of the rotor. One lead (9) of a lamp (8) is connected to the current supply terminal of the distributor; the other lead (10) is connected to ground. When the contact (11) opens the lamp lights up. When the contact (11) closes the lamp is extinguished again. Initially with the contact (11) closed the pointer (1) is adjusted to the zero of the scale (4).
