The metal pipe has a union end formed from the pipe material, comprising a sealing cone and an external shoulder against which a union nut acts. At the union end (1) a reinforcing ring (7) is fitted inside the pipe. The external dia. (Dv) of the ring can be greater than the internal diameter (di) of the pipe (R) away from the union end. Its internal dia (dv) can be roughly equal to that (di) of the pipe. The ends (7a, 7b) of the ring can bear against internal shoulders (8, 9) formed in the pipe, the forward one being formed by the sealing cone (10) and the rear one by the external shoulder (5).
