The bogie frame, esp. on railway rolling-stock, is sprung and made subject to torsion by spring bars. The side pieces lying along the length of the wagon are able to turn opposite ways across the direction of travel, and they are firmly connected to each other on both sides at the ends by one or more spring bars, so as to absorb vertical vehicle springing. The side pieces may be supported on all axle bearings by brackets on the side pieces, which can consist of one or more tubes, of any cross-section, linked by cross arm stems.
