Appts. includes a vessel filled with the digesting liquid and sample. The vessel has an upper and a lower part, the lower part shaped like a funnel. The funnel outlet leads to a settling vessel. Non-digested parts of the sample are prevented from entering the settling vessel. The vessel contents are stirred. The lower part of the vessel may be sepd. from the upper part by a gauze with openings of 0.4 to 0.5 mm. Samples are taken from a number of carcasses and are tested simultaneously in a single vessel. If no Trichinella larvae are found all the carcasses are deemed clear whereas if Trichinella evidence is found the carcasses are subsequently tested separately. By testing several carcasses simultaneously the efficiency of the testing procedure is increased.
