Measurement of electrolyte conductivity vibration - as affected by ambient atmosphere using cell having micro-filter element mounted in rigid housing above measuring electrodes
The variation in conductivity of an electrolyte in the presence of the ambient atmos. is measured in a cell with a carrier for the electrolyte with two measurement electrodes. The electrode is protected from harmful components in the atmosphere by means of a microfilter. Above this is a chemical filter element. The electrolyte is covered by a protective housing and the microfilter is rigidly fixed to this. The housing is basically cylindrical or cone-shaped in form. The microfilter is then mounted at 90 degrees to the housing axis. IT divides the housing into two chambes, one of which holds the electrolyte and electrodes and the others the filter to protect the electrolyte from chemical impurities. The dimensions are such that the dead volume and the total mass of the cell can be significantly reduced. In spite of the reduction in dimensions, mass production techniques can be used, assembly faults reduced and the repeatability of cell relied on.
