Adjusting universal rolling mill to required rolling line - where I=beams with symmetrical shape can be rolled independently of width of flanges on beam
Adjusting universal rolling mill to required rolling line - where I=beams with symmetrical shape can be rolled independently of width of flanges on beam
During the rolling of I-beams, it is necessary to adjust both the vertical and horizontal rolls vertically. The two horizontal rolls are each located in chocks mounted on a transverse; and the traverses are located on tie rods so they can be moved vertically w.r.t. the bedplate of the mil. On the bedplate is an intermediate plate employed to support a frame carrying the two vertical rolls. The frame can be lifted w.r.t. the plate, so that packing pieces of different thickness can be inserted between the frame and plate, thus altering the height of the vertical rolls. I-beams with a symmetrical shape can be rolled independently of the width of the flanges on the beam.
