Safety catch for tipping car seat - is fitted with sloping teeth for release under pressure and with additional safety catch

The seat back of the front seat of the vehicle is tipped to gain access to the rear seats. The interlocking catches have sloping edges (17) to allow simple release of the catch even under pressure. This allows the seats to be released after an accident to free the rear seat passengers. The seat back is locked in the upright position by a safety catch (20, 22) linked to the manual release, to prevent inadvertent release of the catch.
