The remote control, esp. for TV receivers performs certain processing operations normally performed in the receiver in the remote control system. The command key board writes directly into a microcomputer or into a digital counter which is sampled cyclically by the microcomputer. The computer decodes, edits and converts the inputted commands to produce a multi-bit data signal which is modulated onto a carrier and transmitted. The microcomputer also produces a multibit address which is modulated onto the carrier.
