Stable, dental gold alloy - contains zinc and tantalum and/or tungsten

The Au alloy, which has an improved golden-yellow colour, is composed of 60-90 wt.% Au, 5-35 wt.% Pt, 0.1-3 wt.% In, 0-10 wt.% Pd, 0-3 wt.% Sn, 0-3 wt.% Rh, 0.1-2 wt.% Ta and/or W and 0.3-2 wt.% Zn in which the ratio of the sum of Pt metals:Zn:Ta and/or W is 15-30:1:0.5-1.3 (25:1:1). The addn. of Zn in combination with Ta and/or W provides a stable golden colour. The alloy can be coated with a porcelain layer hardened by subsequent baking. The alloy is used for dentures, and as casting for dental crowns, bridges and inlays.
