Increasing adhesion of reactive isocyanate lacquer to film - based on (meth)acrylate! copolymer by using isocyanate-reactive monomer in copolymer prodn.
Improving the adhesion of reactive isocyanate-based lacquers to (un)supported (meth)acrylate copolymer films is effected by using a monomer mixt. contg. 1-15wt.% monomer with functional gps. which react with the isocyanates in the prodn. of the copolymer. The reactive monomer contains OH, CH2OH or COOH gps. and pref. is hydroxyalkyl (meth)acrylate, N-methylol(meth)acrylamide, (meth)-acrylic acrd or maleic acid. Incorporation of the reactive monomer improves the resistance to weathering. The films are useful for covering panels used in the prodn. of signs, e.g. traffic signs, garden furniture and esp. wood used in boat building.
