Granulate contains a partly or completely hydrated alkali polyphosphate, (I), and a water-insoluble ion-exchanging alkali Al silicate (II). The granulate is prepd. by slowly spraying water, as a fine haze, with good further mixing, onto the powdery mixt. of an anhydrous (I) and (II). The granulate may be added to cleanser and detergent compsns. Slow hydration prevents caking of granulate and yields a free-flowing granulate, free from coarse granulate and dust. The prods. can be stored and are readily rinsed out in use.
