摘要
The condensate from the steam for heating the interior of a drying cylinder on a papermaking machine is drained by header pipes along the inner surface of the cylinder mantle. From these header pipes freely-moving scavenger pipes extend towards the inner wall through fittings in which they slide under the load of springs. Projecting spacers at the outer ends of the pipes, are of a predetermined length and maintain their openings at a given distance from the inner wall. The drain away the condensate whilst ensuring that the thickness of the layer against the inner wall or in the grooves of the ribs, remains constant. The quite considerable deflection through heat, etc. of modern thin-walled cylinders is fully accomodated.
