The cleaning agent stock tank of a dish washing machine is modified so that the washing agent contg active chlorine and polyphosphates is dissolved more easily. A sieve is fitted, the mesh of which is so small that the washing agent in the solid state cannot pass through, and the water level is maintained above that of the chemical mixt. Beneath the sieve an inclined plate with passages at the top and bottom edges stimulates circulation of the water, and the soln. of the chemical agent for dosage into the washing water. Caking of the chemicals at the bottom of the stock tank is not only prevented, but the improved speed of soln. makes it possible to use cheaper sodium instead of potassium salts.
