The J-shaped axle body (11) is rotatably mounted in a bearing housing (20) rigidly coupled to the vehicle body wall. Its upper part (11a), the steering lever and the track rod are mounted within the trough-shaped vehicle body. The lower section of the axle body (11b) incorporates the mounting (14) for the vehicle wheel and brake elements. The upper part of the axle body which lies within the vehicle body has a toothed coupling for the steering lever of the track rod.
