A web (13) located below the free region of the ink ribbon which runs between the two guide arms, couples the arms (5) together. The web is pref. a U-shaped channel and comprises a plate (8) extending between the arms up to the cassette housing (4). There is a slit (9) through which passes the disc-shaped type carrier (2). The two arms, the web or the plate can together be swivelled realtive to the housing (4) by a necked-down hinge (10) on each guide arm. The type carrier is e.g. a daisy wheel.
