Protection method for identity cards and passports - has photograph edge which is covered by frame on which pattern and passport number are printed

The protection system is designed to prevent forgery of passports or identity cards. The sheet containing the usual identification information is provided with additional coded data. This sheet is then protected by a transparent foil covering it partly or completely, inseparably joined to it at least at the edges, thus protecting it against subsequent alterations. The edge of the passport photograph is covered by a glued-on frame (3) on which a pattern and the passport number if printed. The frame (3) is printed in different colours and the special pattern is also coloured and may consist of a woven linen grid superimposed on the page.
