Force-fed dewatering plant for sewage farm sludge - increases solid content of prod. and yields clear filtrate

Force feed dewatering plant for excess and/or raw sludge, with forced mixing of the sludge or their mixtures, brings about a slow flow through having a rectangular, circular or triangular cross-section around the wall of which a commercially obtainable filter felt is stretched, and extends over an appropriate length of the trough. The plant reduces considerably the costs of installation and increases the ratio of solid matter in the delivered sludge, the vol. of which may be reduced from 100% to 25%, with solid matter raised from 2 to 8%. The trough is formed by a rustless net with a mesh of about 6/6 cm. The filter fleece lining it is fastened so as to be easily replaceable. The mixing and the slow flow are effected by a motor driven worm. The dewatered but still pumpable sludge is delivered for the next operation at the outlet and the clear filtrate is either recycled or put to waste.
