The iron core is for a low power h.v. transformer, e.g. as used in X-ray generators. It comprises flat magnetically soft sheet metal yokes with cylindrical likewise magnetically soft sheet metal limbs arranged between them. So as to reduce costs and to cut down the space required for the windings, the metal sheet used for the inter-yoke limbs is coiled around the longitudinal axis of these limbs in such a way that an approx. circular limb cross-section results. More specif. the discrete metal yoke laminations are glued together and connected by means of welding seams.
