Photocathode with layer support for photo-emission parts - has low emission material between emission parts which are interconnected by resistive material

The surface of the layer support is provided with a number of parts with good photoemissive properties, arranged next to each other. Between these photoemissive layer parts is interleaved material with low, or none, emissivity, this material being interconnected by resistive material. The resistance value of this material is 15 to 1500 times greater than the layer resistance of the photoemissive parts. The free surfaces of the latter are in one plane with the intermediate layer parts, or may extend over the same. The support is typically a glass disc, or a construction of glass fibres. In such instance the fibres run orthogonally to the disc surfaces, the photoemissive layer parts being provided on the fibre core faces.
