Bimetallic contact temp. regulators are dispersed within an industrial steam iron, so that the problem of their relatively short working life, and the difficulties of their subsequent adjustment are overcome. The redesigned iron can be switched off without altering the set temperature, and when switched on again, it quickly and accurately raises the temp. of the sole to that set previously. A signal lamp is fitted to the main switch. In the sole of the iron is =1 NTC resistance, the conductors for which run alongside those or the heaters, or are assembled with them as an at least five pole cable.
