The writing pad has a mat-type main portion with one or more pockets along the edge, formed on the outside by a strip of sheet material joined to the main portion along one side and two ends. This acts as a cover for an inserted strip, partic. a printed one or one on which notes can be written, while the edge of a protective sheet for the main portion protrudes under it. The strip (3) has a flap folded inside the pocket, and at one or both ends is merely joined to the main portion along the flap. The protective sheet (2) also has a folded flap (10) along one edge, and the two flaps form parts of a dovetail-section guide for a strip (11) inserted from one of the pocket ends.
