The primary glass-, or gas-type, laser is of orbital type. In order to make the laser beams parallel and to align them on-target, after opening of a two-part light shuttle, the beams in a directional tube impinge on a logarithmically curved, mirrored surface. Thus the laser beam of variable directions is transformed into a beam parallel to the axis. Alternately a transparent glass light shuttle may be used and is oscillatable and adjustable in a channel, which serves for direct parallel arrangement of the beam along its axis. This beam can be then directed onto the target. The light shuttle opens and shuts in accordance with specified conditions.
