Universal jig for welding pipes, esp. to mfr. pipe elbows - where circular butt joints can be rotated past welding burner

Pillars are used to support a horizontal shaft driven by a motor to alter the angle of a long, hollow guide beam, i.e. the beam can be swivelled on a horizontal axis. Inside the beam is a trolley, driven along the beam by another motor and fitted with a fork carrying swivel bearings for a clamp. A third motor and levers are used to alter the angle of the clamp, which is adjusted by a spanner to hold a pipe section to which another pipe section has been tack welded. The jig is used to align the circular seam coaxially with the shaft so the latter can be rotated at the welding speed, to make a circular weld. Used in the mfr. of pipe elbows assembled by butt welding several angled pipe segments together.
