There are two normally bolted outside wings in the automatic security door unit, swivelling outwards in emergency, together with two electrically driven, sliding wings. An emergency opening system switches to emergency current supply in the event of power failure, also providing movement for all wings even in the event of both sources of supply. The component parts of a light barrier(30) are built into the interfacing frame pieces (3b) on the sliding door wings. One component part may accommodate the barrier cell and receiver, and the other simplify the reflector. The barrier monitors the space between the two sliding doors, regardless of how far these are opened, and is esp. applicable to electrically powered doors in businesses, self-service shops and supermarkets, for safeguarding displayed valuables.
