The screens (8, 9) covering the openings (7) in the partition wall to the switching chamber of the h.v. switching cell (5) are arranged to move horizontally (9) or at a slight angle to the horizontal (8). Each screen is connected by a common rod linkage (21) to a single lever (16). The lever is activated by movement of the switchgear trolley (4). The lever (16) is provided with a latching mechanism such that when the trolley run out the screens are locked in the closed position. The latch is released when the trolley is run in with the switch in the open position.
