The mfr. of a spun-dyed profiled polyester filament incorporates a slitted suction jet directly under the spinneret drawing in air at the rate of 120-145 m3/h. The process removes surplus matter from the filaments, particularly topical dyestuffs, so that they do not build up on the spinning shaft, without affecting the textile character of the filaments.
