Coloured candle coiled into differently coloured layers - by manipulating laminated block to which ornamental granules are added

Highly decorative coloured effects can be produced on candles of wax, paraffin or stearine, in a series of steps commencing with the casting of a block formed by wax layers of different colours. The block is only cooled to 295 - 328 K and is maintained at this temp. until required for processing. The heated block is folded together and stretched at one side whilst being compressed at the other into a partly spherical lump. Cuts are then made down the sides and across the bottom to expose the layers and with heating maintained the block is twisted into a pear shape; twisting being continued until a head pulls off. The block is finally moulded into a cylinder, barrel shape or sphere and drilled for the wick.
