Aligning work roll of four-high rolling mill - with respect to rolling line via slide used for roll changing

The device includes a slide(a) driven transversely into or out of the mill; and a set of rolls is mounted on the slide(a). On the upper surface of the slide(a) is a slideway for a moving frame(b) carrying two sets of distance pieces; and work cylinders are located on each side of the frame for lifting the chocks so the desired distance pieces can be located under the chocks. Sealed hoods are pref. used to keep dirt away from the distance pieces; and slide(a) pref. carries a motor using worm drives and bevel gears to rotate two spindles driving frame(b) along slide(a). The distance pieces are pref. sepd. from the slide by load cells. The easy replacement of the rolls is combined with a device for aligning the rolls.
