The electricity generating station has an electrically conducting, heat storing magma cell that accepts electric current directly from the generator and is thereby heated. The cell contains numerous channels and a medium source to introduce a medium selectively into the channels. The medium is converted into a vapour by the stored heat. The vapour is collected and used to generate an electric current in order to meet demand at peak periods. An auxiliary generator is used to produce energy from the vapour. The cell comprises blocks containing carbon or graphite particles and stacked into layers with each layer electrically insulated from the next.
