The drill bit for drilling concrete can also penetrate steel reinforcement. The bit has a centre angle between 120 and 125 degrees and a setting angle between 10 and 15 degrees. The bits can be used also for glass, ceramics and similar materials provided the correct speed is selected. The drill operates satisfactorily for concrete at a speed of 2000 rpm, while with percussion action the drill should be operated at 100 rpm. The effectiveness of the bit is increased by providing the shaft with surface hardening which reduces vibration during drilling as well the detrimental effects of excess heat expansion.
