The load-cell arrangement, esp. for precision weighers, consists of a T-beam or rectangular load arm (7) having rectangular recesses (11) in both vertical sides some distance from the end. The steel beam is bolted to a support block (17) by means of two vertical bolts (16). A single bolt at the outer end allows coupling to the load (18, +P). On each side of the thin web formed by the recesses are mounted upper and lower pairs of strain gauge elements (13, 13'). These are arranged symmetrically about the vertical and horizontal neutral lines running through the beam. The force line (K) joining the applied force point (+P) and the reaction force point (-P) runs through the support web. The shear forces thus set up are detected by the strain-gauge elements.
