The control system is for a travelling hydraulic mine support, comprising shield trestle with four or more hydraulic stanchions, with continuous cap and two separate mutually movable skids, and multichannel pilot valve between hydraulic pressure source and return lead on one side and two or more stanchions on the other side. A pressure source lead (P) connection runs out from each valve (15, 16), divided into linked sections (35a,b; 36 a, b). One section in each case is directly connected to a stanchion cylinder chamber where pressure medium acts on plunger insertion face, the other, indirect, section is selectively connectable, via a control valve (19), to the cylinder chambers of different stanchions. This permits application of stanchion groups on both sides from a single central control position, without rearranging lead connections.
